Day Trip to Exuma

The next two posts will be pictures from a day excursion to Exuma which has some of the most beautiful shoreline in the Bahamas. It was a 2 hr speedboat trip to two of remote cays. The first stop was to feed the iguanas. You can really tell that they are very used to getting fed grapes daily, they march to the shoreline when they hear the boats coming!

Eleuthera Weekend....Return to Sandyport

Okay this is the last post related to our weekend on Eleuthera! John took some very cool pictures on the flight back to New Providence.
A view of the main road on Eleuthera.

Very cool shot of a boat in the open ocean.

The Bahamas is a haven for boaters.

Paradise Island, a very different world than Nassau!

Small private island very close to the airport and my apartment.

Our approach into the airport...

Eluethera Island Weekend Part 3

Sorry folks for the delay in getting another post up! This post is the last post from our 3 day weekend on Eleuthera and highlight the sights from our excursion to blue holes around Rock Sound. For those who want more information on blue holes checkout http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_hole.

The first stop was a hole in the middle of 'town' which was surrounded by rock and the hole was filed with fish.

The second blue hole was very cool, there was a turtle swimming in the hole when we arrived unfortunately he dove before we got a photo. There were a series of really cool caves  along one side of the hole. It was really hot and humid in the caves.

Out last stop was a hole just off the shore. We snorkeled around the hole. Our guide informed me after we were safely back on shore that he saw the shadow of a lemon shark while we swam!!

Weekend on Eleuthera - Part II

A stroll across the Window Glass Bridge was very cool. The locals like to say that on one side of the bridge is the Atlantic and other the Caribbean, too bad the Caribbean Sea is actually further south! Regardless the view is spectacular.

Mother Nature can be quite powerful!

...and quite gentile.

There were two reef sharks out for a morning swim!

We stayed on shore while these snorkelers explored the reef, the shark was about 200 feet away!

John and I believe that was a blue hole! We saw a turtle enjoy the hole.                            More on our blue hole adventure in the next post.
